Information for FALL 2020

Audition Schedule

Strings, both new and returning students who did not audition during the summer, will audition Monday and Tuesday evenings, August 17-18.  Specific times for each instrument to be announced.

 

Note: All Woodwind and Brass will audition for all ensembles on Monday, August 17 and Tuesday, August 18.  For information about WW and Brass auditions please go to the Ensemble Auditions page.

String Audition Procedure

All musicians on a given instrument must arrive at the audition location (TBA) 15 minutes before the auditions for that instrument are scheduled to begin.  At this time you will register, fill out an audition form, and be given an audition order number.


Auditions

Once you are assigned an order number you must remain close so that you do not miss your audition.  Auditions will consist of your assigned short solo piece as well as assigned orchestral excerpts. Auditions will last two-five minutes.

 

Audition Music

Follow the link below to find the title and portion of the required solo work followed by the required orchestral excerpt(s). You are responsible for obtaining the music for your required solo on your own. You should print out the excerpt(s) and bring your own copy of the solo and excerpts to the audition.  If you have any questions please contact Dr. Arnold at Mitchell.Arnold@mail.wvu.edu.

IMPORTANT: IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO PREPARE YOUR MUSIC AT OR CLOSE TO CORRECT TEMPOS. LISTENING TO RECORDINGS IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED AND EXPECTED. YOUR FAMILIARITY WITH THE EXCERPT’S PROPER RANGE OF TEMPOS AND MANNER OF EXECUTION IS AN IMPORTANT PART OF YOUR AUDITION.

Tuesday 4:00pn-5:50pm, Wednesday 5:00pm-6:50pm, Thursday, 4:00pm-5:50pm.
