Patrick Smith

Patrick Smith is a Music Education Major at West Virginia University with saxophone as his primary instrument. He has studied under multiple accomplished saxophonists and has experience on both the classical and jazz sides of the horn.

Patrick has held multiple leadership positions as a saxophonist, to include marching band, jazz bands, and wind symphonies. Participation in a number of All-Virginia jazz bands and wind symphonies over the years add to his experience. He supplemented this experience by auditioning and being selected for several honor bands from USC to James Madison University.

Additionally, Patrick was selected to attend the Summer Residential Governor’s School for Visual and Performing Arts in 2018. Becoming a finalist in the Piedmont Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Competition in 2019, as well as earning his school’s John Philip Sousa Award speak to his level of dedication and talent.

At WVU, Patrick has continuously participated in Wind Symphony, Jazz Band, Film Score Ensemble, and the Havok Saxophone Quartet. Today, he is continuing his multi-genre studies under Dr. Jeffrey Siegfried. He looks forward to sharing his knowledge and love of music with all students of the WVU Community Music Program.
