Profs. Lindsey Williams & Erin Ellis awarded research grants

Two WVU School of Music faculty members have been awarded research grants from the Office of the Provost as part of the 2016-2017 Big 12 Faculty Fellowship Program. The program offers faculty members at institutions in the Big 12 Conference the opportunity to travel to other member institutions to pursue collaborative research in a wide variety of ways.

WVU professor earns NEH fellowship to create the first historical record of 'Nashville Sound'

The history of these anonymous musicians, producers and engineers is being documented by Travis Stimeling, an assistant professor of music history.

Midori to give violin masterclass

As part of her trip to West Virginia University to perform with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra on the Canady Symphony Series, violin superstar Midori will offer a violin masterclass on February 6 from 3 to 5 p.m. in Bloch Hall.

2017 WVU High School String Honor Orchestra

The 2017 WVU High School String Honor Orchestra is scheduled for  February 23-25, 2017String students in grades 9 through 12 are eligible to participate and must be selected by his/her Director (Orchestra, Band or Chorus).

2017 Mountaineer Honor Jazz Band

The Honor Jazz Band, March 24-25, 2017, is a two-day experience for high school jazz students. Participants will be selected based on a recorded audition and music teacher recommendation.

WVU Honor Band Festival 2017

The 38th Annual West Virginia University Honor Band Festival will take place on February 9-11, 2017.  Featured clinicians this year will be Dr. Scott Tobias, Director of Bands at West Virginia University; Dr. Matthew McCutchen, Associate Director of Bands at the University of South Florida; at Mr. John Thomson, retired music educator and former Director of Bands at New Trier High School (IL). Additional information will be mailed to area band directors in early November.
