Initial Registration Information

Make your initial registration online before Friday, June 24, 2022.  You and your advisor can make any necessary corrections to this registration until Tuesday August 23, which is the end of the first week of classes.  Registration instructions and the schedule of courses can be found online at https://registrar.wvu.edu/registration. You will need your WVU login credentials to sign in and register. (Here’s a link to the “admitted graduate students” web page, which has instructions for claiming your credentials: https://graduateadmissions.wvu.edu/information-for/admitted-students.) You should register for a minimum of 9 credits for full-time student status.  For this initial registration, all new students should register for 4 credits of MUSC 700 Performance (applied lessons-- select the MUSC 700 and letter combination that is appropriate to your applied area of study, and be sure to select 4 credits from the drop down menu), 3 credits of MUSC 771 Music Research & Bibliography and 3 credits of MUSC 561 Graduate Theory Review. If you need help finding the applied lesson course number/teacher specific to you, contact me via email.

We will change your registration if necessary when we meet for advising.

After you have made your initial registration online, schedule an advising appointment with me for Thursday, August 11, Friday, August 12, or Monday, August 15th when we will update your registration to accommodate your specific degree program and the recommendations of your music theory diagnostic exam. WVU expects to operate on an in-person manner in AY 2022-2023, so this meeting will be in my office, room 4101 in the Canady Creative Arts Center (CAC).

If protocols change due to COVID, I will send information to all, updating instructions for Facetime or phone call advising.

If you are a new Music Education student, please contact Dr. Sandra Schwartz at Sandra.Schwartz@mail.wvu.edu; she will be your academic advisor through your degree program.
