Choirs

The WVU Choral Program has a choir for everyone. Whether you are a student, member of faculty, staff member, or a part of the local community, there is a place for you to sing at WVU. Regardless of your background or level of experience, we have a choir for you!

The WVU Choirs regularly collaborate with the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra and the WVU Symphony Orchestra for performances of major works. Student members of all choirs also have the opportunity to sing with Collegiate Honor Choirs and to participate in state and national choral events.

High School Choral Festival

We are very excited at WVU to be bringing back the High School Choral Festival this semester.

The 2023 WVU High School Choral Festival is an opportunity for High School students from West Virginia and surrounding states to sing alongside WVU choir members under the direction of Dr. Jason Max Ferdinand.

The event takes place on Saturday, October 14 at the WVU College of Creative Arts. The students will enjoy several hours of music making with Dr. Ferdinand. Rehearsals will take place during the morning and after lunch followed by a concert featuring performances by the WVU choirs and culminating in a performance of the massed choir. The day begins at 9am and ends around 5pm.

The cost per student is $30. This includes copies of the scores, a t-shirt, and lunch on the day. Where needed we may also be able to assist with the cost of transporting students to the event.
